Nature at its best
At KOENIG, we are constantly working on new ideas and there is never a lack of creativity.
We have already used one material in the past because of its lightness, exciting structure and sustainability. This material is ebony.
History
Ebony played a decisive role in ancient Egypt and was used for its beauty, but also for its symbolism of strength, luxury and balance, whether as a talisman for protection or sculpturally.
In the past, especially between the 1940s and the mid-1970s, other traditional houses also repeatedly turned to the precious ebony wood. As it is an extremely demanding material, repetitive and geometric shapes were often used to counteract the problems associated with working this precious wood.
In our new collection, we have broken with this "tradition of repetitive shapes" to combine the natural beauty of untreated sapphires with the organic structure of ebony and have meticulously manufactured, polished and adapted each element to the individual gemstones.
Processing
Our new "Ebony meets Pink" set is a tribute to organic shapes and an expression of respect for the natural beauty that our earth has created.
After at least 6 months of drying in our workshop at almost 1800 m above sea level and in very low humidity, this wood is optimally prepared for further processing. Only then is the material good enough to find a place in one of our jewels. With time and tranquillity, our ebony matures, like a good wine, into a piece that could not be more sustainable.
Why ebony?
Deep black and mysterious, ebony is a real eye-catcher when properly crafted and perfectly emphasizes the beauty of the combined gemstones and its wearer.
Embraced by precious platinum, the only white precious metal naturally existing- simply nature at its best.
The high contrast and silky matt shine make these pieces incomparable companions,
which are fantastic for any occasion.
