From the beginning the characteristics of a Submariner were an easy and simple use and a good readability. The main target was to create a timepiece which should serve divers under water, simply
a truly functional tool; and this goal had been achieved. Of course this model went through a steady evolution and changed continuously. As early examples do not have the crown guards to protect
the winding crown against shocks or damages, also the cases became more solid over the years. The same applied to the movements.
The pictured 5513 is not only an extraordinary beautiful example of this reference, but also historically important. Previously owned and worn by a member of the famous company COMEX this
timepiece is the link to the later produced "COMEX-models" with the famous "Gas Escape Valve". Both, case and bracelet, are in an outstanding good condition, the patina of the dial, hands and
bezel insert match perfectly. She was manufactured in 1965, one year earlier before the production of the first "Gas Escape Valve-equipped" watches started. Of course also this timepiece went
through verification and service with Rolex Geneva.
