Rolex presents in 1956 the Day-Date to the public. It is the first watch in the world which shows on the dial the fully written day and the date - furthermore: This timepiece is in addition waterproof, has an automatic movement and is shock-resistant.

Over the last 60 years the technique of this model has been constantly remastered - but aesthetically it could never become better as it has been from the very beginning - perfectly balanced. While there is a range of Rolex Oyster Models which have been manufactured in stainless steel and in precious metals, the Day-Date is until today the only model which reserved the right to be only produced in 18-karat gold or platinum. According to rumors 3-5 examples in stainless steel should have seen the light of day; in fact these watches have been manufactured outside the Geneva motherhouse at the Ecole d’Horlogerie in La Chaux de Fonds, and therefore have not been produced by Rolex itself. Furthermore it is always wrongly claimed, that Hans Wilsdorf gifted the 34th President of the United States of America, Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Rolex Day-Date. In fact did the founder of the Geneva manufacture hand a timepiece of the Date-Just model range to the american head of state. But nevertheless, during the last 6 decades a lot of celebrities decided on a Day-Date - and she is today just as young, timeless and attractive as she was, when launched 60 years ago.
Our Day-Date, reference 1803/8 dates back to ca. 1977 and is equipped with the President-Bracelet, which has been designed exclusively for this model. Moreover we have here an example with the so called „Stella-Dial“ which is for collectors and aficionados a highly sought after variation - additionally with diamondindexes. She presents overall in an excellent original condition and has of course been serviced and guaranteed by Rolex Geneva.
